When injecting into lips, it seamlessly integrates the skin without visible irregularities and accommodate highly dynamic movement of lip.

At the R Clinic we love the transformations of our patients from bespoke lip filler treatments. When completed by a trained professional, lip fillers can subtly enhance volume, softness, and smoothness. Lip fillers can also fill out lines and wrinkles in the skin surrounding the lips for a more refreshed youthful look. Lip fillers are a non-permanent solution and is a buildable product, meaning your perfect lip look can be achieved gradually over time. At The R Clinic we take a less is more approach, focusing on harmonization and proportion, working with your natural features to achieve natural looking results that complement your overall appearance.

You will see immediate results after your procedure, although mild swelling may initially make your lips appear bigger than you wish. Give your lips at least 48 hours to adjust to their new shape while the swelling diminishes and the filler settles into place. It is also normal to expect some bruising in the area post treatment which will begin to settle around day 5. Over the next two weeks, the filler will integrate into your natural lip tissues to achieve the final result. We offer a complimentary review appointment at our clinic at the two-week mark to assess the outcome and make any necessary adjustments.

The following precautions can minimise your risk of bruising, bleeding and swelling after lip injections:

• Avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen and aspirin
• Avoid supplements that have a blood-thinning effect, such as fish oil, vitamin E or St. John’s Wort
• Do not smoke or drink large quantities of alcohol in the days leading up to your appointment

Your provider may make additional recommendations based on your medical history or specific concerns. The closer you adhere to this guidance, the more likely it is that your lip injections will be safe, comfortable, and successful.

If you are prone to cold sores and intend to have lip injections, you should take a prophylactic anti-viral medication to prevent a cold sore forming. This can be taken on the day of treatment, either before or after.

To begin, the lip is cleansed with antiseptic. A device is used to mark out veins to reduce the risk of bruising. Anaesthetic is used to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Options include topical or local anesthetics depending on your preference.

At the R clinic, we prefer to perform lip injections with a needle, which is an advanced technique that allows for more precise placement of filler, leading to a better result.

• Apply gentle cool compress to the treatment area (do not apply ice directly to the skin) regularly on the day of treatment
• Avoid any heat inducing activities for 24 hours such as strenuous exercise, spas, sauna and hot showers
• Do not massage the treatment area unless instructed to do so
• Avoid alcohol, air travels for 3 days post injection
• Use a topical treatment to soothe and calm the skin such as Bepanthen or Arnica cream. Use this 3 times/day for the next 7 days
